Scholarships/FAFSA

FAFSA Information

An important component of a student’s post high school plan is the completion of the F.A.F.S.A. Many post-secondary institutions require students to complete the application to be eligible for any of the institution’s scholarships and grants. The application is available on October 1st and can be accessed online at www.fafsa.gov. Students should be completing the 2022-23 application since that will be their 1st year at a post-secondary institution. It is a state mandate that a student must complete the F.A.F.S.A. in order to receive a diploma from a public high school. If a parent/guardian does not want his/her student to complete the F.A.F.S.A., a waiver must be completed and returned to the high school for the student to receive his/her diploma. I have attached a copy of the waiver as well as some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the F.A.F.S.A. If you plan on having your student complete the F.A.F.S.A., I would encourage you to do this ASAP. If you do not plan on having your student complete the F.A.F.S.A., please complete the attached form and return it to CHS no later than May 1st. Again, the F.A.F.S.A. must be completed or the waiver must be returned in order for the student to receive a diploma.
